German government gives green light for submarine delivery to Singapore

BERLIN (dpa-AFX) - The German government has given the green light for the delivery of another submarine to Singapore. Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) informed the Bundestag's Economics Committee about a corresponding final approval decision by the Federal Security Council in a letter obtained by Deutsche Presse-Agentur in Berlin on Thursday.

The decision concerns a Class 218 SG submarine manufactured by Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS). In December, two submarines had been christened at TKMS' Kiel shipyard in front of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. One was ready for delivery.
